The Fame performance was my first major show and introduced me to Technical Theater. During this performance, I was backstage and helped build the entire set. This year was incredibly fun and made me fall in love with the program. I made many friends and bonds with others during this time. During this year, I met Ms. Fores, who was the newly assigned set designer and builder for the set. After meeting her, I was quickly introduced to many forms of set building and design, forever shaping my view on Technical Theater.
During the Aladdin performance, I got more involved than before; this time, I was designing lights. After my first year, I wanted to try something new, but I had a more important job. In the end, I got my wish and became one of the lighting designers for fame. During rehearsals, I would take down notes about where actors were and how the lights should follow them, as well as create ideas for every major cue in the script. During this process, I worked with many people who all guided me through the basics as well as the more advanced parts of the lighting board. Due to my assisting and practicing lighting cues, I got the role of lighting technician for the Friday show. For me was my time to shine and have a great show, and in the end, the show turned out great with minimal mistakes on my part.
This Artist Apprenticeship was during the summer of 2024, transitioning into my 10th-grade year. During this time, under my father, I worked 3 days a week for 3 weeks, from 10 am to 4 pm. My pay during this time was 10$ dollars an hour, and in total I made 540$ from this, and it helped me have some financial freedom during the summer. My main roles during this apprenticeship were cleaning, sanding, touch-up, and transportation of materials. This apprenticeship was during my father's bi-relief sculpture, that were 4 sculptures that were 8ft x 8ft and all had individual, unique sculptures. These sculptures were for a lobby floor of a hotel and were matched with the theme of marble and white. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this apprenticeship and hope to continue working in the future.
Cross-Country was a challenge that I took upon myself to get myself into better shape and better myself as a whole with discipline. The hardest part was the beginning, with truly grueling practices that pushed me past my limits. During this time, I made friends with others as we pushed ourselves together and broke our limits. During this season, my time improved by 5 minutes, which doesn't seem like a lot, but to me, it showed me that my efforts paid off. This newfound motivation has helped me improve myself and has gotten me to go to the gym weekly. In total, even though the time spent in this sport was difficult, I still enjoyed it and the new bonds I have made.
