For this project, I created a painting inspired by an artist of my choice. I chose Vincent Van Gogh, mainly due to his beautiful landscape paintings and his prominent style of painting. Vincent Van Gogh actually struggled with mental issues throughout his life, which could have contributed to his somewhat abstract style of painting. In total, I enjoyed this project and hope to continue painting in the future.
The goal of this project was to design a table setting inspired by the cultures involved in the Columbian Exchange. Unlike other projects, this one was more hands-on and creative, requiring students to create their own sketches and designs. For my contribution, I created a bowl and a plate, both of which are common and essential items at any meal. One challenge we encountered during the project was achieving a consistent color palette across all the pottery pieces. If I were to attempt this project again, I would focus on designing a centerpiece to complement the set.
For this Project my element was Tungsten. At the beginning I had 2 major ideas, which were drill bits and lightbulbs. Tungsten is know for high melting point and rigidness, making it great for drill bits as well as light bulbs. I went for light bulbs because I thought that the design would turn out better as well be more identifiable. I decided to do 2 vanishing points because I thought it would be a fun challenge to navigate. My inspiration was from the city skyline that I saw driving how one night. Some challenges I had along the way was trying to get the building dimensions correct and to look accurate. In the end I liked how it turned out, but in the future I think that I should try some type of digital app.
In this assignment, we created the phrase ChemVAS out of photos and drawings that related to Chemistry and Art. I found this to be a fun project and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was created on the app called Sketchpad, we also used new tools such as a tablet and electronic pen to create more detailed and interesting designs. The instructions for this assignment were pretty broad so you could make any design you wanted if it had the word ChemVAS on it. To describe my design, I would say that the word ChemVAS was graffiti on a wall that already had lots of paint on it and that each of the letters was written by someone else. Some principles of Art and Design I used were movement, color, and texture. In total, I liked doing this project and I think doing this was fun, but something that disliked was how the website made layers. Layers counted for every single brushstroke and line, making it quite difficult to adjust the layers themselves without a struggle. In the future, I think that I could use these tools in a variety of ways including designing buildings as well as making abstract Art.
This is my Skittle Data Visualization slides, This project took a couple of class periods to finish. This project took a while mainly because it was for 2 different classes and you had to make 3 prototypes as well. The image that you see on the first page is my final product. My topic was about peoples favorite ice cream, and as shown cookies and cream is everyone's favorite and hates mint ice cream. Personally I would prefer a vanilla over mint but everyone has there own opinions on that matter. In total I found this project to be pretty interesting and over all cool.
