3/1 Abstraction and STEAM
Abstract art was first used in modernist painting to enable artists to convey feelings, concepts, and experiences through a variety of abstract colors, forms, and markings. African modernist art was distinguished from other modernist art by utilizing a vibrant color scheme and broken Cubist shapes. Because certain colors can be associated with particular elements of the periodic table, abstract art can be utilized in science. For myself, I enjoy using more of my expression in my work.

Borax is a powdery white substance often used in various cleaning products and household laundry. It is the product of Sodium (Na) and Boron (B). You use hot water to supersaturate the water and extend the amount of Borax to dissolve. As the water cools, it begins to rid the mixture of the excess borax and displays the result of the chemical reaction: crystals. My sculpture is dynamic because it combines different shapes to make a flower.
This year in art, I have learned about the different forms art can take. This relates to science because the people who are creating compounds and doing experiments are creating art, in ELA art can take form through literature and poetry, and math when using shapes, like geometry for example. We have done various projects that demonstrate our ability to incorporate our understanding, in particular, we have done a project on Linear Perspective. During this project, we could display the principles of movement and unity through the formation of lines and the placement of lines, and the elements of space, line, form, and shape. I tend to experiment with different possibilities through trial and error, I will generally use a concept that I believe will work for me first and then use others afterward. I am able to show my process through the slides that we are tasked to complete at the end of each project we work on. We have learned about a variety of different works, but some in particular were impressionist art pieces, these pieces depict famous people during the time period as well as historic battles, largely known pieces we have learned about are those of Vincent Van Gogh.
The electron configuration mandala incorporated STEAM in various aspects. In science, we learned how to write the configuration, technology was used for research of the different religious mandalas and their importance to each specific religion, art was included through the physical creations of our mandalas, and lastly, we used math when separating the electrons onto each ring. The mandala helped me to consider new perspectives because after our research I realized that each religious group was able to use the same object but use it in their own way which makes it especially for them. Our work was mostly successful because it encompassed the meaning of the Mandalas and gave us a learning experience that helped us to better comprehend the significance of it. If I were the teacher I would set up the project similarly for the most part, but I would connect it more to World History in the sense of collaboration. I feel that we did not exactly cover the project in World History and in order to get a more in-depth understanding, if this was done the project may have been more smooth sailing than it already was.
Tibetan Mandalas are used to guide individuals on their path to enlightenment. It relates to world civilizations because it displays the practice of a polytheistic religion and how they used this as a tool of communication. I can see movement, emphasis, balance, and rhythm. You can use a mandala to display the concentric circles.

Today we began with Membean, a platform we use to familiarize words, and used it for 15 minutes. We then watched a short performance of a one man play by John Doyle, a guest speaker. Afterward, in our groups, we began screenwriting for a play we will soon perform about our chosen civilization as well as discussed the scenes and action that each person is responsible for performing.
9/7 ELA
Today we began with Membean, a platform we use to familiarize words, and used it for 15 minutes. We then watched a video that gave a summary of a story with a plot. Afterward, in our groups, we began brainstorming for a plot for the play we would soon create about our chosen civilization as well as researched about the civilization for the remainder of the class period.
9/5 ELA Summary
Today we began with Membean, a platform we use to familiarize words, and used it for 15 minutes. We then watched a video that gave a summary of life during ancient civilizations. Afterward, in our groups, we began brainstorming for a play we would soon create about our chosen civilization as well as researched about the civilization for the remainder of the class period.

I believe that art is a means of expression through creative thoguhts. Art is used in other subjects to depict or explain events. In social studies and ELA there are stories being told through different storytelling forms and pictures which are forms of art. In math there are formulas that helps you get through the problem to solve for something new which is also creating something. Lastly, In science there are experiments done to show how different compunds work together, even resulting in a new form of matter as well.
