For our final in the 1st semester of geometry, we created a stained glass project with a variety of geometric shapes. This project was to help us further understand congruency throughout the shapes. The inspiration for our design was the stained glass typically in church windows. The elements of art we used were Lines (we incorporated multiple different lines of thickness and sharpness, to emphasize the different shapes.), Shape ( by creating different geometric shapes, this will add to our drawing), and Value (we made lighter colored shapes and darker colored shapes will add differences). The principles of design we incorporated were Pattern (we will create patterns of the same shapes in the same going in different orders.), Proportion (unity will be created when there are different colors and shapes that will fit together in the image.), and lastly we used Repetition ( by repeating certain congruent shapes). To make sure that our shape followed the shape rules, we measured the sides and angles to create proofs. This connects to our knowledge of proofs because we've had to previously measure angles and shapes, by finding the proofs we confirmed congruency.
For this PBl Dream Building Project I chose to redesign the Charles R. Drew Charter School Senior Academy Fine Arts Theater. During the survey I asked multiple fine arts students at Drew what they would change about the theater to optimize their time and comfort level while in there .The architect in the opening video spoke about biophilic design. Her innovative approach was to have more open spaces that include a variety of light sources and bio life, such as plants throughout spaces which would boost morale so I took that approach with redesigning the theater.
