MY COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
To graduate, students are required to complete 100 community service hours, with the opportunity to earn a special cord by completing 150 or more hours. I chose to see this not just as a requirement, but as a meaningful opportunity to immerse myself in service within my community and beyond while working alongside my peers. This experience allowed me to make a positive impact and grow through giving back.
THE ATLANTA MIND PROJECT
As the Public Relations Manager for The Atlanta Mind Project, a teen-founded nonprofit focused on mental health advocacy, I create visually engaging social media content to share resources, highlight events, and spark conversations about emotional well-being. Beyond digital outreach, my team and I have hosted workshops with local mental health clinicians, leading activities that help teens identify stressors and practice leaning on support networks. Watching a room of peers open up about challenges, realizing they are not alone, is a reminder of the power of connection and the difference small acts of awareness can make.
SHOETHICS
As the Director of Strategy for Shoethics, a nonprofit focused on community outreach and international support, I help to guide the organization’s outreach and engagement efforts to raise awareness about our mission. I work on planning local events and developing initiatives that supported our goal of collecting shoes for children in Accra, Ghana, who often go without proper footwear. I also contributed to our public communications by creating Instagram posts that informed the community about our work, promoted donation opportunities, and highlighted the impact of our efforts. This role strengthens my ability to think strategically about outreach, coordinate initiatives that support a mission-driven organization, and use communication to mobilize community support for a meaningful cause.
