English Journal Topic 1: In Ch. 1 of Purple Hibiscus, Kambili says the purple hibiscus represents Jaja's defiance. What plant, flowering or not, best symbolizes you? Add a picture or a drawing!
English Journal Topic 2: What situation do Kambili and Jaja need to escape from in Purple Hibiscus? If you or a friend were in a similar situation, where would you go or look for help? You can research and put websites below.
Band Journal Topic 1: What effect does music have on the brain? When you are listening to music, the lower than average part of your brain is taken over by the higher than average side. Music allows people to have certain emotions as well. It can make you cry, laugh, or
Engineering topic 1: a big part of engineering is sketching. You must sketch your prototype before you make anything in every project. The picture below is an example of this. This shows multiple figures drawn in one point perspective. This means that all of the lines on the figures are drawn to one point. There is also an example of shading in the top right corner
How does science relate to the work we are doing with our sound amplification project?
science relates to our sound amplification project in a number of waves. When you are dealing with something of sound, you want to find how loud the sound amplification will be. If you want it to be louder, you would want longer sound waves. If you want a quieter sound, you want to have short waves. The picture below shows more information of how science an engineering is connected.
The link below is the story board our epic element story. This tells the story of an Egyptian boy who has to save the world while keeping it in secret.
Overall I believe that we excelled under the current circumstances (virtual learning during a pandemic). Our animation went very well as we did a stop motion type. One thing that was difficult was the tie that went by copying the slides and moving a small amount to the left or right. One thing that I could improve on would be reading the rubric more than once during the continuation of the project. I think that this project was very successful. However, I would think twice about the difficulty for the project, especially if this is a children's book.
with this project, we have to make anything using certain materials and certain methods. Some ideas I have thought of were a bowl or a placemat. I eventually fell on making a pencil holder. Here are some pictures down below in which is my final project
art, cooking, and chemistry is very connected in multiple ways. IS order to cook something, you must use heat, which can be combustion. The position of the plate and and the makeup of the dish and how the food is positioned can be a type of art. Also the different smells of food can be chemical changes as well as warming or cooling down a food.
Use this sticker as you seek understanding of the assignment or problem. Typically this will come from the community, your instructor, or your own observation. You must completely understand the objectives of the project to be successful, so this step is crucial. Develop active listening skills! Entry events for a project are usually a great place to start!
Research: first we started researching different type of methods such as braiding and weaving, and I eventually landed on twisting.
Idea Development: I did not find a lot of information about twisting but I did find out about braiding. I found that there is a clay sculpture that is from circa 500 bc. Also braiding has been relevant for about 30,000 years.
Use this sticker as you are discussing and exploring ideas for how to solve a problem. Record these ideas quickly. Ideas may come in the form of graphic organizers, notes, drawings, outlines, or video blogs. Remember to seek feedback before progressing to the next step (then use the Evaluation/Modification sticker).
Prototype:
Use this sticker as you share your more formal ideas--3-d prototypes, mock-ups, drafts, skits, simulations, and storyboards. Remember to seek feedback before progressing to the next step (then use the Evaluation/Modification sticker).
Evaluate and Modify:
Use this sticker when you are evaluating your decisions at each step in the process. When you note a user’s feedback also note what you intend to do about it going forward.
Test:
Use this sticker to explain how you are trying your prototype with real users. Try it out and note the way it performs and is understood by a real audience. Explain methodology and note observations.
Important Dates:
Add this sticker to note due dates/showcases/events/opportunities and requirements for specific parts of the project in your learning journal.
On august 6th, In my ap computer science class, we made a figure using binary code. These are a couple of shapes that I put together with the binary code being to the right. The numbers have sets of 9 with the first three numbers controlling the red, the second being green, and the third being blue.
On August 16, in class we created a small webpage using HTML. My webpage is based on ice cream. It has a quick introduction, an image and video of ice cream.
We created an app in AP computer science that can change the shape and background color of different types of shapes. This is related to art as there is a variety in shape and color.
