Benjamin Harper is a sophomore at Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta, GA (class of 2023) where he is an Advanced Placement scholar and maintains a 3.8 GPA. Since an early age, Benjamin has been interested in business, finance and real estate investing. Taking this passion further, Benjamin serves as the Team Captain of the 2020-2021 Atlanta Chapter Stock Market Challenge Team Captain of the 00 Black Men of America (Dekalb Chapter) Stock Market Challenge Team (currently 2nd in region) and the Team Captain of the 2020-2021 Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Stock Market Challenge Team (currently in the top 30% of all teams). Benjamin participated in the Sigma Pi Phi – Kappa Boule – Succeed with C.R.E.E.D. mentoring program, 2020 he was one of 850 students (out of 7208 applicants) selected for the DeKalb Virtual Career Summer Academy Leadership program. In 2020 he was recognized as the 2020 Jack and Jill of America - Southeastern Region Outstanding Male Athlete, an appointed member of the Jack and Jill of America Southeastern Teen Advisory Board, served as the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill Teen Chaplain, and summer 2021 he is excited to be an invited guest at the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Annual Conference.
Benjamin is an avid golfer who plays on the Charles Drew Varsity Golf team which just finished an undefeated season. Benjamin is hopeful the team will continue the legacy of 2019 by being the first 2-time all black team to win a state championship! He was selected as one of the first members of the First Tee of Metro Atlanta - Club Corps partnership where he has been offered a free golf club membership to enhance his golf skills. In addition to all of this he enjoys giving back to the community and started an organization where he collects clothing and books for a Rwanda orphanage. Benjamin has received many awards and recognitions however, his greatest honor has been being a 2-time recipient of the Charles R. Drew Charter School Golf Team Character Award because he believes in the quote by Booker T. Washington, “Character, not circumstances makes the man”.
