Near the beginning of the year, we read many short stories. Stories such as "The Lottery," "Civil Peace," and "The Most Dangerous Game." In these different short stories, they all ended with surprising endings that you never new would happen. Each of these stories had a different theme that was helpful in real life.
Once reading this assignment, we were given a sheet to organize certain part from the story. Things such as protagonist, antagonist, and theme. Given these sheets helped us to understand the story better and use textual evidence to answer certain questions.
In class we started a new book called Purple Hibiscus. This story is really interesting and after reading each chapter we have a quiz on it. This book has many twist and turns you wouldn't expect. For instance one of the main characters (Papa) is big on his religion but at the sometime he beats his family constantly.
Most of the semester we have been reading this book, and having quizzes on them. This book somewhat ties back to Human Geography. So it can somewhat help me to understand culture better for a group of people in Nigeria.
