Saw Stop/Table Saw
Saw stop safety:
Wear Safety Glasses
Remove Loose Clothing
Don't put your finger within 6" of the blade when it's moving
Use the feather board
What I Made
Description: The Table has a blade that spins forward and is used to cut wood.
CNC Router / Machine
CNC Router / Machine Safety:
Wear safety glasses / goggles.
Secure your material to the router, (Clamps, screws).
Design around your screws.
Watch it while it's running.
What I Made
Description: First zero the machine, start off at the zero axis so you can start working. You next use CAD to create the design file (we use V Carve Pro), then use CAM (Shop Bot) to tell the router info about the material, such as the height, width, and what kind. Then use CNC to execute the process and cut out the design. Make sure to have clamped/screwed down your material to avoid it lifting off or moving.
Planer Saw
Planer Saw Safety:
Wear Ear Protection and Safety Glasses
Unplug when finished
Do not put fingers near opening
Adjust the cutting thickness to within 1/16' of the material thickness prior to cutting
Attach vacuum before use
What I Made
Description: Take the pre-planed wood and measure it with a ruler. Scale the planer so it's exact level with the wood, turn it on, make sure to have the platform folded out, and then run the wood through. It should catch the wood in the blades but make sure to have an open area, and to guide it through. Repeat process 3-4 more times for the perfect size, and remember to re-adjust and measure. The planer allows the wood to have your desired thickness throughout the wood.
Miter Saw
Safety Guidelines:
Wear Safety Goggles
Firmly secure the material with your hand outside of the hand placement line and up against the fence.
Don't move or touch the blade guard.
Unplug the saw after use.
What I Made
Description: Align the wood with the back after it's been planed and everything, and then make sure it's set to the right measurement by looking at the fence. Once it's on track, keep your hand behind the line and slowly bring front the saw with it still not spinning, and then once it's lowered press the trigger and push forward semi-quickly. Double check your measurement, and then proceed to cut everything else.
Biscuit Joiner
Safety Guidelines:
Wear Safety Goggles
Firmly secure the material with clamps
Don't put fingers near the blade and hold/angle properly
What I Made
Description: Align a long piece of wood to put the wood you want to cut on a table, and clamp it down. Put your piece of wood against the other, and align the biscuit joiner to the smaller piece (the one you want to cut). Press the trigger, and quickly push it into the wood. It should spring back and only takes 1 second. Make sure your joiner is perfectly horizontal to the support wood and is on the right mark.
Glue and clamping
Description:
Make sure glue is coming out of the bottle, and align it with the edge of the piece of wood. Portion it equally across the piece of wood and stick the biscuits into the other holes that will make a side of the box.
What I Made
Orbital Sander
Safety Guidelines:
Wear Safety Goggles
Make sure the sawdust bag is secured on
Hold the material properly
Keep hands away from the sander
What I Made
Description: Hold material, and make sure the sawdust bag is secured and the sander is plugged in properly. Press the switch to turn it on, and hold it away from your fingers while still having a firm grasp on the material. Make sure to have put the sand paper on properly as well, not covering the vacuum holes. In circle motions, push the sander across the material until satisfied. This way, there will be no lip around the box and the sides will be smooth and flush with each other.
Stain/Finish
Safety Guidelines:
Wear latex gloves
Wear an apron
What I Made
Description: Open up the metal can, and put a brush in. Tap it on the edge of the can to make sure it's not too much and doesn't run, and paint the box with it/apply it. Do until fully covered (staining the inside is optional). Stain with the grain.
Lit Lamp Light
Brief: Today we learned that we are going to create and develop a lit lamp light. We are going to use LED lights to light up the design. We will use acrylic to put our design on the lit lamp light, and we'll use wood as the base. We will use Inkscape which is a CAD software.

Soldering iron
Safety Guidelines:
Keep hands away from the iron
Make sure the LED strip is secure

Safety Guidelines:
Make sure to have everything plugged in correctly
Don't touch exposed wire
