ChemVAS Art Elements

ChemVAS Typography

I learned to use digital tools to collage these letters. I used symbols of art and chemistry such as beakers and brushes. I also incorporated a variety of values and textures in the background.

It's All Elemental

Ceramics

I made a sculpture for our Element Tile project. Every person in my grade was assigned an element, and I was assigned Curium. Curium is a metal used to fuel satellites, so I sculpted a satellite and attached it to the tile. It was difficult to add the finer details and make sure they didn't get damaged in the process of painting/finishing sculpting.

Adrian Pearson - Deeply Rooted

Artist Statement

Deeply Rooted was a whole grade level project for 2nd quarter, where we had to learn how symbols can reflect cultural differences and similarities. We researched the use of symbols around the world, and made our own symbols that represent something in our lives. In Art class we created paper sculptures and pipe cleaner crystals which we used to make symbols. I made a paper pen, which represents my love for drawing. I also made a mask to commemorate one of my favorite music artists, MF DOOM. It was difficult to shape the paper, and getting the coloring right on paper is difficult. Our work was displayed in the PBL lab alongside the harp performances and dances, representing culture around the world.

Guernica Project

Our entire grade all contributed to a recreation of Picasso's "Guernica". Every group was assigned a random piece, and was instructed to illustrate an example of contemporary conflict.
