With almost all of the experienced players leaving 8th grade year, there was only a few players that would be able to effect the team. I knew I would have to be able exceed my expectations as a player. After the first game though I didn't feel confident in our teams ability to face the competition. We lost 15 - 0 in the first game. But with competition slowly deteriorating and new players stepping up we were able to win almost half our games by the end of the year. I was glad to play on team because I was able to get extra repetitions and get a chance to represent my school. Not only was the team able to win several games at the end, I was able to get team MVP as a freshman.
This was my first time joining a competitive running team. At the start of the season I was just hoping to get a 10 minute mile pace. I surpassed that on the first meet, running a 27:30. The next meet I ran a 24:50. making an almost 3 minute improvement. And my best meet I ran around a 23:00. I feel I could have surpassed those if not for a minor injury that set back training for two weeks. But I wish to continue my cross country experience even further for the rest of my high school career
This was supposed to be my third full season playing high school baseball, due to the fact that I played in Eighth grade, and Ninth, but Corona virus cut it short by around 10 games. We didn't win all of our games but we were able to win our last game in exciting fashion against Maynard Jackson. I played really well that season and was ready for my spring baseball season which followed high school. Corona virus cut that short and the season was terminated.
This was our first varsity baseball season as a school, and we didn't quite get the results that we wanted, but we improved so much as a team, and a lot of players on the team who were new to baseball improved a lot, and that really helped boost the team moral, and help us get into some competitive games. I was coming off an arm injury this season, and by the end of the season I was pitching very well, and got a lot better at hitting as the season progressed.
In the spring of my Junior Year I got my first job, and it was at a bakery called The Little Tart Bakery on Memorial Drive. There I learned important life skills, like baking, team working, and even how to deal with money, and how the real world works.
