Affine-The Mathematics Association, Daulat Ram College organized a webinar on “Mathematical Modeling, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” on 22nd September 2021 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The guest speaker was Prof. T.V. Kumar who is the Professor and Dean of School of Computer and System Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University with keen interests in Databases, Data Warehousing, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Nature Inspired Algorithms, Disaster Management, Big Data and Analytics.

Prof. T.V. Kumar commenced the session with topic intelligence and quoted:

“Intelligence has nothing to do with education, you may be educated but still not be intelligent and may not be educated and still be intelligent”.

Further Artificial Intelligence, it's classification into Weak and Strong AI, Narrow and General AI and Super Intelligence were summarized. He also shared about his experience at UNESCO forum and an Indian Delegation to France about AI in Mathematics and countries investing on exploration of exploitation AI. Else, Turing test and applications of AI and best move from all possible outcomes in shorted time period were discussed. He then talked about the NITI Ayog major five focusses on AI, Machine Learning and its goal for computers to learn automation. He simplified about the study of products frequently bought together, to strategize and put knowledge into action and also discussed travelling salesman problem with presentation on nature inspired algorithms.

Further, the doubt session was encouraged and also shared his journey from Mathematics to Computer Science. Concluding, it was an informative session where students learned about Mathematics, it's uses and various fields. The session culminated with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Poonam Lakhotia, Co-convener, Department of Mathematics, Daulat Ram College and a group picture.
