"Acquire the opportunity to appreciate the world."
The department organizes certain workshops every year to create awareness regarding college societies among the newbies. A great initiative and thoughtful of the seniors and the union.
25th January 2022, 2:00 PM A Skill Enhancement Workshop on ACTING was successfully organized by Affine - The Mathematics Association in collaboration with Memesis - The Theatre Society in online mode via Google Meet. It was quite ingenious and at the same time intriguing, pleased by the Speaker's conversations and their quick-witted responses. It involved many fun activities; students were asked to express dialogue with different emotions and facial expressions.
Participants were asked to recall anyone's character and its back story and then answer some questions regarding that character assuming that they were that character. It taught students how emotions and facial expressions play an important role, the backstory of the character, whom we are acting like, should be kept in mind, acting as if it's not you but that character. It was glee to deliver the impromptu dialogues which drove one to fascinate theatre. Moreover, it went well with the organizing team and the host ran out the event smoothly.
Poetry, an emotion, an opportunity to appreciate the world by our words. With this initiative - Affine, The Mathematics Association organized a workshop on poetry, in collaboration with Imagism, the Poetry Society of Daulat Ram College on 29th January 2022. It involved the basic idea of writing a poem and acknowledged that poetry is a blend of inherent quality and acquired skill be it emotionally charged or thematic. Furthermore, activities were conducted like word prompts and picture poetry to enhance the interest and skills of an individual in writing.
Certain issues encountered by a poet such as a writer's block, overattachment towards poetry, and fear of criticism were deeply discussed in an attempt to overcome them. Moreover, it was justified that poetry is "an expression of thoughts". To get a flair in writing, one needs to hear others. The event ended on a happy note leaving everyone with a thought-provoking mind and a desire to pen down our thoughts. Special thanks to Pragati Prerna (President of Imagism) for enlightening the event ablaze and thanks to the guests and all the organizers whosoever directly or indirectly involved in organizing it.
