DEPARTMENTAL EVENTS

ELECTION

Each college, each department, and each society need a dedicated team to function properly and meet the expectations. Similarly, we have a union and extended committee in AFFINE - THE MATHEMATICS ASSOCIATION for which elections are being held and fought every year with great enthusiasm. Having five main posts, namely, President, Vice President, General Secretary, Treasurer and Joint Secretary, followed by extended committee posts.

Election time is always one of those exciting times when students experience some thrill and some entertainment in their college life. The contestants do tons of campaigns to convince us all without back mouthing about others. The moments are always memorable, filled with joy and excitement all throughout. Even due to pandemic, the department faced some issues with elections, being it online, the interest of the students didn't fall off, they passionately participated and stood for the elections gathering the votes through google forms, fighting against the odds and made those years a success too.

From organizing various quizzes, seminars, webinars, talks, discussions to a successful fest, it's the elected committee meeting students' desires and great results are achieved with their hard work.

FRESHERS PARTY

The day of anxiety, cheerfulness, and a memorable day with an opportunity for newbies to interact with batchmates and seniors. Blast of loud music, happy faces and enjoying seniors' hints that something colossal is going to happen. This becomes the first and one of the exciting days with the beginning of each year.

Unquestionable desires accelerating the excitement, the forever urge to attend the college freshers’ and the extended pulse to connect with distinct personalities is enough to energize and charm the event. Thereby, blending all the ideas and synthesizing the energies, Affine - The Mathematics Association comes up with its most celebrated event – Freshers’23 with the theme “Relation and Integration of 1990’s and 2023” to initiate the thrill and excitement with inviting the newbies to step-up from their comfort zone and evolve through Affine. It all started with welcoming of our faculty members and certainly the “to be mathematicians” ready to stimulate the grace and vibe of the event. The all-time ritual “Ramp walk” was then drafted invoking the first yearies to introduce themselves and involve throughout. While collaborating we somewhere started to celebrate the diversity acknowledging the creativity and flaws. Morever, lined up with some heart-warming performances by the juniors delighted the aura. A sequence of games was then played adding the fun element and allowing the unpredicted to showcase their hidden talents.

ORIENTATION

The orientation is organized by the union for the newbies each year. It commences by welcoming the juniors followed by President's speech. From highlighting the department's achievements and a brief introduction about the college to sharing experiences and various activities, it ends with a positive note and new energy to gain for newly admitted confused juniors.

SHOONYA - THE ANNUAL FEST

SHOONYA, the annual fest of 'AFFINE' has always been the most awaited event of the year. It's never less than the previous year, it just becomes better and better. Its grand opening is always done by inviting the resource person for informative sessions from various places to enlighten the students for their future, to act as their motivation and highlight the achievers across the world and announcing the launch MATHPUNCH - THE ANNUAL MAGAZINE.

Every year as a new session begins, the department organises numerous sessions and seminars but SHOONYA - THE ANNUAL FEST is one of the most awaited events of the year that excites each one involved. This year the level of excitement was at par since after two long years of online we were back with a new bang. INAUGURAL CEREMONY: The inaugural of the day was done by Prof. Ajay Kumar, an esteemed dignitary who works as a senior scientist at National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) who has been guiding trail of students imparting knowledge to pursue great heights in future. As we move on, a trail of competitions were organised to entertain the students, reshoot all the nuts of madness and to develop their skills in a domain outside of their academics. PICTIONARY: that seems like dumb charades but with an updated version. This involved one's creativity as well as a perfect amalgamation of listening and contemplative skills where one has to guess the object being explained through Mathematical terms by the other. The winner of the event were: 1. Shruti and Arpita 2. Nidhi Verma and Sakshi ADD TO INFINITY: fairly quoted as "If it doesn't sell, It is not creative" marks the creative skills to advertise the product just like introducing your startup in a shark tank. Enacting to the best possibilities and grabbing over all the attention, we have the successful participants are: 1. Rinki 2. Shikha 3. Dhanmeet. SCAPE THE SCAVENGER: an exciting Treasure Hunt with a Mathematical fun which is obvious to solving all the clues and reaching the final destination. So, with secretly swiping all the hints under their desk and reaching the end spots, we have the winners of the event : 1. Anamika and Annu 2. Nidhi Verma and Sakshi. STARE THE STAGE: an open mic to unleash one's hidden talents and attract the audience. The award beholders who perfectly made it to stare the stage…we have the successful winners : 1. Himanshu 2. Aman Johr 3. Jatin Verma and Rakshit Gupta. POSTER PRESENTATION: an awakening game who often gets intrigued through exploring and research. This brought the best chance to showcase one's ability of ideas and finding creativity in Mathematics. The winners of the event were : 1. Aditya 2. Anamika and Riya 3. Talagana and Manideep . The day ended dexterously leaving everyone spellbound with memorable and successful happenings prolonged for lifetime. Giggles of entertainment, loud laughter, fun loving activities, enormous participation, platform to showcase one's abilities and lastly a melodious gathering had it all.

FAREWELL

As our session approaches to end, we face a dilemma to bid our super seniors a heartfelt farewell and thank them for guiding us throughout. It's not just a celebration. it becomes a day for all of us to pour our hearts out, and the emotions that it contains. One of the most exciting events and a special day to end our year.

Farewell to a Chapter : Embracing new beginnings. The time to bid adieu but seemingly the walls already feel hollow, corridors feeling empty and classrooms apparently lifeless but to spark all the memories and to capture a thousand more secrets; farewell celebration of batch 2023 was organised on 29th April by the juniors. It started with a special and warm welcome to the third yearies with a cake cutting. While any farewell is incomplete without a ramp walk, certainly the third yearies draped in their elegance saree set the stage on fire with their dexterous walk. The ambience was then lifted by some heart warming performances by the seniors and the juniors. Further some games were assembled to charge up their energies landing on an entertaining environment. The embellished titles of the celebration were then revealed, scraping up the most deserving, charming and the ones who left no stone unturned in moulding the aura to perfection. Miss Farewell was lifted by Kajal, Miss Affine laid by Shatakshi Shukla and finally Miss Fabulous was achieved by Vani. Finally, the 10th edition of the department's Annual Magazine - Math Punch was launched which accumulated various ideas, inflating everyone's thoughts putting forward a compilation of the entire journey lived by Affine. Further the Badging Ceremony of the Extended Committee was held on a disposition to always look up for the department's welfare. This followed by the Valedictory Ceremony of the Union and the Extended Committee carrying out the responsibilities with utmost dedication while providing a transparent atmosphere for different thoughts to land in. Extremely evoked by the celebration, we ended up creating strong bonds,unwithering memories and certainly sharing big hearts ....
