Hello Affinates, very warm greetings to you all! Some of you might know me and some might not. But I have been where you all are today. With the university getting reopened again there must be a wave of joy and happiness and nervousness at the same time. Finally, the time has come when you must leave your homes and explore the vibrant life of the north campus. As someone who has been into your shoes, I wish you all the best and a very successful journey ahead. While the online mode of education did provide us a chance to take out time and gain new skills at the ease of sitting at our homes, it has had very adverse effects on our lives, most importantly on our personalities. We are less connected now. And I must tell you that networking is very important, especially for a student. So, my only advice is for you to leverage the networking channels and stay connected with your seniors and super seniors so that you can seek their help and assistance whenever required. And believe me we all are there for you! And just FYI, you can meet me anytime, I am just next door to you! Last but not the least, make the best out of your time at DRC. Good luck!!
College is a place where students come from diverse cultures thus it's not difficult to find people who are totally different from you. You will find students whose opinions will be totally different from yours, students whose dressing style maybe totally different from yours, students whose language of communication will be different from yours and students whose likes and dislikes maybe totally different from yours and just like you may like papaya and other person may not and yet neither of you are wrong to dislike or like it, in the same way these differences do not mean that one of you need to be wrong for other to be right. It does not mean that just because the other student speak in English than you are wrong to speak in Hindi, that does not mean just because other student do not like making reels on Instagram than you are wrong to like it, it does not mean just because other students have dozens of friends than you are wrong to have just one good friend, it does not mean that just because other students are good at certain skill than you are wrong to be not good at it so don't judge others and do not judge even yourself by making such comparisons as you people are different and can be right at the same time with totally different choices. So, try to understand others as they are not wrong or right in reality, only thinking makes it so. So, remember "Others need not be wrong for you to be right and you don't need to be wrong for others to be right".
Whenever I think of three years spent in DRC, they are still like a dream come true for me. Mathematics has always interested me and after my 12th what I knew was to get admission in DU that too in Mathematics Honors. Then after coming to this college, I came to know that this college is not all about studies or about enjoyment but DRC balances both. I am very glad that I was a part of this Affine family which helped me learn more skills. I would like to thank all my teachers and seniors who were always there to guide me and special thanks to all my teachers to guide me not just regarding studies but for life lessons also. This AFFINE family is not family by its name but actually this is a family which can never be left. Because of all your guidance now I am pursuing my master's in mathematics from DTU and would go in the profession of teaching. At the end, I would just say to all my juniors that live every moment to its fullest, there will be some ups and downs but just believe in yourself and keep working, all will be fine with a better version of you. All warm wishes and blessings to you. Keep working and achieve your dreams.
The three years I spent in DRC had been the most stimulating years of my life. It was a perfect blend of joy and hardships and has helped me grow as a person. I met so many different people and learnt so many new cultures, perspectives, ideas and so much more from them. The journey will forever remain etched to my soul and constantly help me seek worthy things in life.
To all my juniors - Once you get into the college will get an opportunity to begin with all the initial steps to be the person you always wanted to be through probably studies, societies or by grabbing the opportunities and making full use of it. Remember that there will be moments that carry a lot of sentimental values, and you can't help but miss those years later. So, live every moment to its fullest.
Entering DRC is one of the best things to happen in my life. Living away from home was not that easy for me but I was excited and determined to handle all the challenging circumstances. The friendly environment and systematic approach towards imparting education at DRC made me a competent individual. Apart from academics, our department (AFFINE) offers various opportunities to enjoy our college days and also to develop our personality. I would never be capable enough to express my gratitude to my teachers who have always stood beside me as the best mentors. Each of the faculty members has helped with my ups and downs and shaped me into a better and responsible person. Achievements and applauds, opportunities and thoughts this is what I have gained from our department. It was a great experience being the President of Affine, DRC has helped me realize my dreams and achieve my goals.
I have always believed in myself because at the end of day it's your effort which makes the difference. Presently I'm preparing for the Civil Services Examination.
At last, all I want to say is, believe in yourself, take on your challenges, dig deep within yourself to conquer your fears. You gotta keep going Coz, when there's a will there is a way. I cherish this place, the precious memories and the favorite past times we had together! All warm wishes and blessings to the lovely juniors! Keep working and achieve your dreams!
College for me has always been about friends. As I wasn't a Delhite, food was the major concern and there we had our Delhi girls, whose lunch wouldn't even take 1 minute to finish. DRC has given me a way of life which I would always cherish. To my juniors: College is a place to grow. It's not limited to academics, it's way more than that. Understand your true potential and spread happiness around you (you first). If you ever face any failure of failures take that as an opportunity and bring the best out of it. A journey is meaningless to me if it doesn't have any hurdles. Be a fighter, a stronger one.
To get into mathematics was never thought of.
Becoming a doctor had been the childhood dream. Not getting through the medical entrance, had left moments dull until I stepped into DRC. Eventually, I realized the fact of everything happening for the best because nobody knew that the tables would end up turning since DRC was lined up to become my “sacred place”!
Mathematics was always liked but never loved, it was never in the priority list. Soon things unfolded when I developed my interest towards it... the day I realized I was not meant for Biology! “Ahhh! That was the best decision of my life” is what I whisper to myself when I look back to times today! The three years I have spent here are noteworthy and inexplicable. I call this place “my sanctum sanctorium”!
It has had incredibly changed my life, has made me what I am. The women around have had such great impact in my life. To have besides me teachers as a family in disguise is such a bliss!
I secured AIR 37 (28 in general) in DTU, AIR 146 in BHU, AIR 63 in DU OR entrance(written) and AIR (170) in JMI.
Presently, I am pursuing master's in mathematics at DTU.
This place is heavenly to my heart! It has been a bliss to be here, to learn, to grow and build a personality I had always longed for. The way I have received all support, guidance, love and opportunities has been all so fascinating.
On the way in the outside world, pursuing higher studies, amidst the chaos and some unsettling days, I would always look back and cherish this place and the people here!
All warms wishes and blessings to the lovely juniors! Keep working and achieve your dreams! Stay happy! Stay healthy!

My love for Mathematics brought me to the place which ‘turned me into gold’ (as my farewell title says) through a beautiful journey of ups and downs, and it is called ‘DRC’. DRC has truly been an absorbing experience in my life that gave me chances to try unlimited new things, make mistakes and learn and grow from them. Today, as I pen this down, I carry so many memories back in my mind made with each and every stakeholder, be it classrooms, classmates, friends, teachers or juniors. When I entered into DRC, it was just mathematics as the reason.
With all of these, I started my journey from Mathematics to MBA. It was a slightly different career option which I decided to pick up for my higher studies as in most of us assume that M.Sc. is the only way out after bachelor's in mathematics.
Although it depends on interest and varies from person to person, I feel we must try to explore and exploit every opportunity and then come to a decision for our career. It was not easy to go on with this choice since its preparation requires different set of resources and guidance.
However, it was all possible with the support of my teachers in whatever way they could. Mathematics is one such subject which helps you open the doors of your brain, accept every challenge and find the solution. As I say this, it is quite relatable both in terms of concepts and decisions of life. Also, failures are an integral part of life, it is not always possible to hit your aim at the first go, so just be patient, determined and focused on your choice once you have made it irrespective of what the trend says and work till you don’t achieve it. This is all what I have learnt in my three years of DRC. I wish to extend the same to my juniors and just tell them it is the students who make college worthy of its reputation and ranking. So, don’t hesitate to take new initiatives, it will help you to discover yourself and add value to your Alma Mater.
With all regards and happiness
College life is the most memorable and best part of life. No matter where we are, we always miss our college campus, lovable canteen, numerous bunks, so many hands on one lunch box, lifetime friends and always wish if we could bring those days back.
I still remember the first day at DRC when so many emotions were running through me. It was actually the beginning of my dreams to pursue higher education in the field of mathematics. For me, Mathematics is not a mere subject but a beautiful language that fascinates me than anything else.
On the first day, I was introduced to AFFINE-Mathematics Association of DRC. It was a great experience being Joint Secretary of Affine in my first year. It helped me a lot to enhance my communication skills and to develop leadership qualities.
DRC not only gave me the best classmates but also gave me Wonderful and Inspiring teachers like Seema Ma'am, Poonam Ma'am, Garima Ma'am, Neha Ma'am, NK Sir, VK Sir, Vikas Sir and Monu Sir who not only taught me subjects but also guided me in right direction. It gave me friends that had always been by my side through thick and thin.
With the support and guidance of Affine family, I was able to get through IIT-JAM. Currently, I am enrolled in M.Sc., Mathematics in Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar. After completing my post-graduation, I want to get into research and take up teaching as a career.
At last, I would like to thank my juniors who gave me this opportunity to write down this article. I wish all the best to all my juniors.
HAIL AFFINE!!!!
Regards
Thanks to Affine! (Why?) Giving me opportunity to remind all my memories and experiences of three years of college life!! Three years of college was like a film story to me which started when I knew nothing about the story and ended with a different vision about life. I still remember the day when I entered this beautiful phase of life and after those interesting challenges of life started. The first chapter of my college life started with making friends and serious studies (like we used to do in school time). And then studies started subtracting from our lives and fun added to give a wonderful experience. I started by making one friend and ended up with a group Z_7 of seven lost peoples. These three years have taught me the value of friends in Alumni -Our Sunshine life. Second thing, that studying mathematics taught me is that never give up on any problem whether it is a mathematics question or any life problem. Apart from this the teachers of our department were so awesome and supercool. They were like family more than a teacher to me. I still remember the 8-5 classes which were tiring but our teachers made them amazing, and fun filled. Fest, seminars, classes bunk, pre fest preparations, photo session, zoology department classes, Math Punch, elections, canteen Chai and Samosa, sports complex are some of the memories which I miss a lot.
