clarifies student understanding of concepts and promotes deeper understanding
provides evidence that current understanding and skills are a suitable basis for future learning.
be part of an ongoing process where progress is monitored over time.
Assessment is an integral part of the learning process, helping to track student progress, provide feedback, and guide future learning.
For Year 5 and 6 students, there is no formal assessment schedule, as assessment is ongoing within the classroom. Teachers use a variety of assessment methods, including observations, class discussions, projects, and formative tasks, to monitor student understanding and provide timely feedback.
As students move into Year 7, they will engage in formal assessments, which help them develop self-management skills and prepare for the structured nature of secondary school learning. These assessments are designed to support their ability to set goals, manage their time, and reflect on their progress.
It is important to understand that assessment is an ongoing practice that informs teaching and learning at all stages.
