About Social Studies
Welcome to Social Studies! In the sixth and seventh grades, students will explore the creation and expansion of early civilizations into the modern day. Eighth graders will focus on the history of the United States.
At the beginning of the sixth grade year, the first four units will focus on aspects of archeological and anthropological studies through which civilizations will be studied. These aspects are:
- geography
- history
- civics
- economics
The beginning of seventh and eighth grade years will review these concepts since they are central to the understanding of how civilizations are born and grown.
Sixth Grade Year
Sixth grade year focuses on Western civilizations, both ancient and modern.
The textbook used is Pearson's MyWorld History, Grade 6.
Seventh Grade Year
Seventh grade year focuses on Eastern civilizations, both ancient and modern.
The textbook used is Pearson's MyWorld History, Grade 7.
Eighth Grade Year
Eighth grade year focuses on United States History.
The textbook used is Pearson's MyWorld History, Grade 8.
