Musical Theater Stagecraft

Set design and costuming will be worked on in this course. Students will design and create technical theatre crafts for the musical theater production. Students will learn hands on how to do the craft and artistry involved in creating live theatre such as lighting, crewing, special effects, set construction, scenic artistry, and property creation. Students will collaborate with the production staff to assist in running the musical performance as stagehands and tech crew.

Musical Theater Drama

Students will rehearse a musical theater production that will be performed at the end of the semester. Students will learn to use their own personal voice type to sing different kinds of songs, learn to analyze the lyrics to find out how to communicate the story through vocal and physical expression, and learn to develop the character in order to bring the song to life through both singing and acting. Students must sign up for this class to be eligible for a lead role in our Spring Musical. Singing and non-singing parts are available. Students will collaborate with the choreographer as well to learn stage blocking and movement during their final performance.
