Special Needs Assistants
Cathal Porter, SNA
Our team of experienced Special Needs Assistants (SNA's) provide support to students who have been recommended as needing this care support.
If you have access to an SNA you will be met in the morning when you arrive in school. Should you have special transport arrangements, an SNA will escort you to that transport before the end of the last class of the day.
An SNA may support you in some classes e.g. in Practical Subjects such as Metal and Woodwork.
At break and lunchtimes there are always several SNA's available to offer support. If you need to use the lift an SNA will come with you.
Often SNA's help students with their lockers and organisation.
Sometimes students require movement breaks. You will be accompanied by an SNA at these times.
Should you need to travel on a school activity during school hours, an SNA may travel with you.
Several of our SNA's are qualified First Aiders. If you are sick or have hurt yourself Cathal, Jennifer or Geraldine might attend to you.
