For the University Supervisor and Teacher Candidate to maintain a strong and purposeful relationship, clear communication is vital. To facilitate a reflective dialogue, University Supervisors should ask questions of the Teacher Candidate about the lesson and other classroom practices. There will be times when University Supervisors will need to give direct feedback; judgmental and comments can be reduced by asking questions.

The University Supervisor and Teacher Candidate will discuss how to give and receive feedback in order to make the post-observation conference as productive as possible. As would occur in K-12 settings with students, University Supervisors provide praise first and then offer areas for improvement.
