Professional Digital Portfolio Guidelines
Education Studies Teacher Preparation Program
The professional portfolio reflects the developmental nature of the Education Studies major as you progress from student learner to student teacher. You will use this digital portfolio to document and showcase your overall Dominican Experience. By collecting and organizing artifacts in many formats (photos, graphics, video, text), you will display your best work demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities developed along your path to becoming a teacher. You will create your portfolio using Google Sites based on the required sections below, incrementally adding to the site each semester.
Required Artifacts & Resources
Introduction to the purpose and content of the site
Your photo, background, resume, and relevant personal information
Your philosophy of education is a description of your professional beliefs about teaching and learning and how you will put these into action in your classroom. (see formal Philosophy of Education assignment to guide your work on p. 3)
Introductory paragraph that encompasses your philosophy of education
Artifacts & resources from coursework & fieldwork illustrating your philosophy
Links to websites, videos, and resources that illustrate your big ideas about teaching & learning
Introductory paragraph for each 4C
Artifacts & resources from EDU coursework illustrating your work with the 4C’s
Links to websites, videos, and resources that illustrate inspiring ideas and best practices in teaching and learning the 4C’s
Introductory paragraph about each school site
Reflections on Becoming a Teacher: What you taught, how you interacted with students and teachers, what you learned about teaching and learning
Photos & videos of yourself teaching with captions
Artifacts (e.g., lesson plans, assignments, photos, resources)
