APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
In this course the students develop of one or more social design projects, taking to full ripeness all the necessary competences for the management of complex social design projects. The project themes constitute a proper research and innovation laboratory in the field of social design. The students acquire the ability to manage the whole design process, from the analysis and study of the context to the conception of the actual social design project, including the strategies to present and share the project in all its phases. The supplementary didactic module offers in-depth analysis on specific research and design topics that revolve around social policies, in order to better characterise the project and make it elaborate and complete in all its parts.
The programme grants 12 credits, divided as follows:
Social Design Lab 2: 8 CFA
Shared design and public policies: 4 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
SOCIAL DESIGN LAB2
Lead and manage the development of complete social design projects
Apply and rework the methodological process according to the personal design goals
Rework and reorganize a project brief
Carry out research to generate new knowledge and/or identify new meanings to be activated through the project
Create a flawless visualization of the project and successfully communicate it to the general public
SHARED DESIGN AND PUBLIC POLICIES:
Acquire deep and comprehensive knowledge of the matters for which public discussion and decisions are relevant
Acquire analytical competences and tools to interpret political, financial and social aspects
Acquire competences and tools to take part into public tenders for regional, national or European funding
Acquire competences and methodological tools to understand and develop shared project practices
SOCIAL DESIGN LAB2:
Design practice for social activation
Spaces, products, events, services for social design
Shared projects
Aesthetic codes and techniques to communicate projects to the broad public
SHARED DESIGN AND PUBLIC POLICIES:
Development procedures of shared projects
Development procedures of projects in public institutions
Development procedures for social communication campaigns
Funding tenders
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
The didactic modules that make the course will be assessed separately.
The final grade will result from the weighted average of all marks. Assessment is based on a check of learnt skills and technical
abilities, and may include:
→ Oral exam
→ Papers
→ Complete projects
→ Assessed revisions or mid-term tests
