APPROACH
Theoretical
This course aims at providing a comprehensive overview of the Italian and European history of art, which is the scope of the cultural and aesthetic references behind the history of Italian design, and that conveys meaning to the discipline of social design, with particular attention to Public Art practices.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Develop their knowledge of the historic, artistic, cultural, social and economic roots of art, with particular reference to the Italian context
Identify and rework the relation among art, design and the social project discipline, together with their aesthetic reference models
Apply artistic research tools to the search for project references
Enhance their overall project awareness
From Roman art to Renaissance and Baroque
20th Century art and contemporary art
Cross-discipline itineraries in the world of art
Links between art and design
Case studies of public art
This is a theoretical course. Didactic activities may include:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools for detailed study
Debates and presentations during classes
Individual study and research
Exercises and revisions
Field trips
Assessment is based on the overall competence of the students and may include:
Oral exam
Written exam
Submission of papers, projects or research work
