APPROACH
Theoretical
The course aim is to provide the cultural and technical grounds of lighting engineering that will enable the students to manage the aesthetics as well as the performance and technical aspects of lights within classic or innovative types of products.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Thoroughly understand light and the physics of light engineering
Acquire the technical and methodological tools that enable to choose the most suitable solutions when designing light appliances
Become fully aware of the complexity and variety of approaches to light-centred projects, with a mature approach to lighting design objects
Elements of optics and light engineering physics
Properties and types of light sources and light appliances
Use of light in art
Designing light appliances
This is a theoretical/project based course. Didactic activities may include:
Front lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools for detailed study
Classroom debates and presentations
Individual study and research
Exercises and revisions
Field trips
Assessment is based on the overall competence of the students and may include:
Oral exam
Submission of papers, projects or research work
Submission of a complete project
