APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This course focuses on the development of an interior design project, based on the acquisition of efficient research methods and project implementation, as well as on investigating different techniques to represent spaces. The integrated didactic module provides an in-depth focus on materials and technologies that characterize interior design, with attention to the most recent innovation in this field.
The programme grants 12 credits, divided as follows:
INTERIOR DESIGN 1: 8 CFA
MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES: 4 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
INTERIOR DESIGN 1:
Develop a complete interior design project
Implement an efficient method to design interiors
Thoroughly analyze and understand a project brief
Carry out research to identify a wide reference system for personal projects
Efficiently represent the project
MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES:
Acquire thorough and comprehensive knowledge of materials and technologies that are used in interior design
Acquire skills and methods to independently carry out researches on the use of innovative or uncommon materials
INTERIOR DESIGN 1:
Private or semi-public spaces
Home environment, work environment, hybrid use environments
Concept, moodboards, references, inspiration
Techniques, codes and languages of architectural design
MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES:
Features, properties and performance of materials for interior design
Production processes and installation of materials
Techniques and technologies of materials
Innovative materials
This is a theoretical/project based course. Over the course, the students will carry out didactic activities that are functional to achieving the learning goals. These can include, in both modules:
Classroom lectures
Exercises and revisions
Field trips
Development of individual projects
Individual study and research
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools for detailed study
The didactic modules that make the course will be assessed separately. The final grade will result from the weighted average of all marks.
INTERIOR DESIGN 1:
Assessment is based of the final project presentation and may include:
Private or semi-public spaces
Home environment, work environment, hybrid use environments
Concept, moodboards, references, inspiration
Techniques, codes and languages of architectural design
MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES:
Assessment is based on a check of learnt skills and knowledge, and may include:
Features, properties and performance of materials for interior design
Production processes and installation of materials
Techniques and technologies of materials
Innovative materials
