• Be exposed to concepts such as exposure, aperture, shutter speed and studio lights

• Learn Cinematography, angles and shots
• Learn how to create storyboard
• Learn Premier pro (Video editing tool)
• Production of short-films

Selection Criteria
Students must present the sample of their past photography or a film they have produced
Assessment Method
S4 Photography
1st Term
● Photography Portfolio
○ a total of 20 photographs (10 from the film camera and 10 are digital)
○ Each photograph must be accompanied by an artist statement explaining the meaning of the photograph, the inspiration behind the shot, and finally the process of taking the photo
○ An introduction will also be written to explain how the entire collection works holistically
● End-of-Term Examination
○ At the end of the term, students will also have to sit an internal exam where they will be tested on how well they know the subject content, and appreciation through essay writing
2nd Term
● Photography Portfolio
○ a total of 20 photographs (all photos must be taken digitally - and edited)
● End-of-the-Year Photography Exhibition
○ Students will plan, organize and carry-out an end-of-the-year exhibition
○ Each student will display their work for the rest of the school to see
○ Each student will select a total of 20 photographs to display
● End-of-Year Examination
S5 Film-Making
1st term
● Script (Individual)
○ A full script for a short film. Students will develop script from premise and turn it into scenes.
○ Students will go through 3 drafts of scripts. Show each process and changes made.
○ Students will go through the complete creative process: develop story ideas, construct the dramatic action, work out the dramatic structure, create the characters, write the first draft, and edit the finished copy.
○ All aspects of drama and creative writing will be reviewed and utilized for the Final Project.
○ The students will learn to appreciate the dramatisation of a story into dramatic action, characterisation techniques, and dialogue writing.
● Storyboard (Individual)
○ Students will transform their scripts and turn it into storyboards. Follow scene treatments and put their stories into scenes.
○ Students will use an online platform (ex: Canva/Storyboardthat) and draw their storyboard on paper to visualise their story.
● End of Term Examination
○ Film Essay Writing Exam (Testing students on film theories)
2nd term
● Produce 30-minute short film (Group)
○ Students will be required to film their short film outside of school and in their own time. In class they will edit videos and learn more about cinematography.
○ Students will learn about cinematic expression, aesthetics, style and technique. Students will learn how to identify scene intent and emotions and express them through lenses and cinematography.
○ Students will learn to edit their films through Premiere Pro. (An video editing tool)
● End-of-the-Year Film Showing
○ Students will plan, organize and carry-out an end-of-the-year film showing in the school.
○ Each group must present their films at the end of the year.
● End of Term Examination
○ Students will be tested on their understanding of cinematic process, plot, character and scene by watching the film of other groups.
● Film Competition
○ Students will be required to join film Festivals/competitions outside of school by submitting their 30 minute short film
○ By submitting their films in different film festivals/competitions, students will acquire

S6 Internship
Students will work as interns in media related companies or media departments, such as publications both magazines and newspapers. This would be a great opportunity for them to build connection and networking skills.
Students can intern as videographers/photographers/assistants to the producers and be part of the creative production.
At the end of the internship program, students will receive:
● Certificate of Completion
● Work Experience (which they can include in their resume)

S6 Assessment
• Internship evaluation
- In the company they’ll do their internship in, students will be evaluated by the mentor they are assigned to.
- Evaluation will include working behaviour, learning attitude and overall performance
• Video Promotion
- S6 students will be required to create a video promotion of the company that they will do their internship in.
- The students will have creative control in the making of the video.
- The video should highlight the background and objectives of the company
- Video will be evaluated by the company mentors and teachers.
• Internal essay writing exam
- The exam will be testing students on film theories and photography analysis
Online Courses
As an alternative to the internship, the school may also assist and guide students to complete online photography or film-making courses – where they will be granted certificates upon completion of the course.
