Progression

Although there are no pre-requisite requirements for modules, the applied nature of the programme and the way that modules build from semester to semester requires that students successfully complete early modules before progressing. In part-time mode students must clear all assessments from year 1 (semesters 1 & 2) before starting year 2 (semester 3), and all assessments from year 2 before starting year 3.

Due to the multidisciplinary collaborative nature of the second year of the programme, the programme committee must ensure the balance of disciplines. While every effort is made to balance the first year cohort, an appropriate balance of disciplines in the second year may not result due to non-completions, etc. In this context, and in consultation with the programme committee, recommendations may be made to individuals from particular discipline groupings to pause their progress for one or more years. The appropriate exit award (Postgraduate Certificate in BIM Technologies) will be issued for the period of the pause.

In relation to year 3, where supervision resources are constrained, students will be offered the opportunity to progress with some supervision hours delivered jointly in a team teaching environment or students can pause their progress for one or more semesters until more supervision capacity becomes available. The appropriate exit award (Postgraduate Diploma in Collaborative BIM) will be issued for the period of the pause
