Programme Resources

A wide range of physical, virtual and software-related resources are available to students of the programme.

These are supplemented by the resources available from the TU Dublin Library.

Programme Learning Spaces

The learning spaces used by the programme include the following.

The scheduling of these spaces is visible to all students via TU Dublin's CMISGo system from the Administration - Room Use. Use of these facilities outside of scheduled class time (e.g. during daytime hours), if space is available during a timetabled class, is at the discretion of the lecturer who is timetabled in the room. All students must respect the decision of the lecturer in charge.

Maintaining a proper backup process and schedule ensures that even if you are required to leave a room at short notice, your work will be preserved.

Due to Government regulations around Covid 19 this learning space will not be available, and teaching will be delivered online. For further information on TU Dublin’s Covid Policies please click here

The geomatics equipment that is available to the programme is shown below. Via Topcon’s Education Partnering Strategy a wide range of measurement equipment is loaned to the College ensuring that the maximum age of all Topcon equipment is 3-years-old. Equipment from other manufacturers such as Leica and Trimble is also available.

ICT Resources

The programme committee has decided to utilise, where possible, market-leading software in relation to BIM Technologies as we believe that this best-serves the market and our students.

However, this decision will be monitored continuously and, where possible, particularly in the collaborative and capstone modules, students will be facilitated in using, and encouraged to experiment with, alternative software options, including open-source solutions.

Below is a listing of some of the software (latest versions where possible) to which you will have access.

  • Autodesk Building Design Suite (incl. Revit, Navisworks, 3D Studio Max, Robot Structural Analysis, Dynamo, etc.)

  • Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite

  • Autodesk Recap Pro and 360r

Brightspace

The University's Virtual Learning Environment is Brightspace, which is managed by the Learning Teaching & Technology Centre.

Some staff use Brightspace to deliver course materials. Brightspace is used in most modules for the submission of assignments.

Brightspace is also used as the communication platform for all Programme-to-Student communications via the Programme Information (PI-aBIMM) module.

Therefore, it is essential that you redirect the email link within Brightspace - PI-aBIMM to an email address that you check regularly.
