As DHCS begins to outline the VILS' role after its extension year, we are beginning to implement the following systems and structures to help better serve our teachers, including:
Having a BOY kick off meeting with DCIs on classroom findings and themes to help support our scholars for testing, including:
Using platforms such as Zearn to increase math readiness % for the Math LEAP
Using platforms such as Discovery Education for all subjects as a way to have kids learn more about different subjects in interactive ways.
Using systems on tech collection and tech payment to decrease the amount of unintended use of VILS devices

Having the VILS Portfolios on the network profile to increase family interactions
Encouraging schools to promote digital learning on their social media platforms
For DHCS specifically, collaborating more with the VILS Media Lab to showcase student's interest in STEM and bring prospective opportunities for students to explore outside of DHCS (Robotics teams, Tech Teams, STEM-related field trips)
In the beginning of year PDs, we've learned about Tango, which can help capture and create how-to guides using AI! Because of this, it is so much easier to capture our data on how to use platforms and how to operate them! We plan on utilizing this pwebsite to capture how we use Digital Platforms at DHCS. Below is an example one that we will send out to staff.
Because this is DHCS' Extension year, most of our teachers are now familiar & eager of using Digital Platforms in our classes. As Discovery Ed will be our main focus this year, we will begin the Teacher Leader Corps process after the BOY VILS Coaching kick-off meeting in October with DCIs.
