7th grade ELA created presentations around lessons on how oil refineries are affecting the health of marginalized communities, including effects of flooding and sea level rises.
8th grade science used a bingo card format for independent study about Earth, the sun, and the moon. Students worked independently and used multiple apps, as well as paper-based activities to build new knowledge.
8th grade social studies classes with Mr. Wilson have been using Quizizz on a regular basis for building new knowledge, have some healthy class competition, and reflect on data in real time.
Ms. Manning's 6th grade math class has been using interactive learning tools in Desmos to build new knowledge, make real-world connections, and collaborate!
Ms. Coleman's 8th grade science classes did individual Design-a-Species projects where students were assigned a habitat and had to build Slides presentations and use a tool of their choice to draw and design a species based on the assigned habitat. Next, students were grouped by habitat and were tasked to use a tool of their choice to build a zoo habitat. Finally, students had to grade each other's contributions to the habitat, as well as give feedback on their classmates' exhibits in the class zoo.
