Dear East Families,

We hope that you and your families are doing well.

Please be aware that our schedule this week (2/22/2021 - 2/26/2021) will be as follows:

  • Monday, February 22: Remote work for staff and virtual instruction for all Students

All campuses and buildings will remain closed so that we can conduct additional walk-throughs at every campus ensuring all issues which may have developed during the closure have been addressed. Child Nutrition Teams will use this time to prepare kitchens for food service by restocking inventory and ensuring kitchens are operational to provide warm and nutritious meals for our scholars.

Please note Grab and Go Meal service will resume at the regularly scheduled times and locations on Monday.

  • Tuesday, February 23: Staff return to campuses/offices while all students remain virtual

With staff back on campus, this day serves as an opportunity to assess the readiness of our classrooms and address any identified concerns prior to students physically returning.

  • Wednesday, February 24: Staff onsite; Campus-supervised learners return to campus

Weather forecasts report that, by mid-week, much of the ice and snow will have melted and temperatures will be warmer ensuring safe travel and more suitable conditions to resume normal activity in and around our school community.

We have included several resources below taking place this weekend, scroll down to see them all. Please feel free to also share the information with family and friends.

East Middle School has been blessed to be able to partner with Serving with a Purpose, a local nonprofit agency. We are excited about this partnership, as it will allow us to assist some of our families in need. The Texas Rent Relief Program can help renters with the following costs starting as far back as March 13, 2020 (this means you could potentially request assistance for up to 11 months of past due bills):

Virtual Student Behavior Reminder

We have had some students to say, post, and do some inappropriate things in the live classroom. Thank you to the parents that either helped the teacher, or called me... it does take a village!

Zoom bombing, profanity, lewd language or gestures, and other obscenities are not allowed. Please note our teachers are recording sessions, and we have transcripts with login info for every person that accesses a Zoom class. Parents please partner with us to remind students that this behavior will not be tolerated, and inappropriate behavior does come with consequences.
