A Message from Principal Hannible:
Welcome to 2020-21!
As we continuously plan for a school year like no other, at East we want to make sure every student feels engaged in learning experiences no matter the location, challenged to perform at the best of their ability and supported through all social and academic hurdles!
Spring of 2020 has challenged staff and students to find a new normal for learning, connected us in new ways, and required us all to connect from afar. What I have most learned through this process is how much more I appreciate the willingness and dedication our teachers bring to EMS, the ways in which our students continue to work hard to grow and overall, and the appreciation for the little things in life-giving a high five, a hug or being able to laugh out loud with many people around. What I MOST appreciate about EMS is how even under circumstances we have never experienced we are still a learning and caring community.
“Back to Normal” is such a simple phrase and it is our goal at EMS to not only find our new normal but to use this time as a learning experience that will forever impact the learning environment of EMS. Every week there are new types of learning experiences teachers are piloting and much of what is learned will continue to be used in the future. This year we will not get “back to normal”, but instead thrive in new platforms and spaces for higher learning and collaboration to occur.
Lastly, we welcome you all back to the Great DeSoto East Middle School, and we look forward to working hand in hand with all of you!

Laptops & Hotspots
The district is coordinating device pick for parents that requested a device and /or hotspot. A pick-up invitation email will be sent out by Tuesday, September 1st. Please note that at this time, all requests cannot be filled, but as devices come in we will reach out to those families to get them a requested device.
If you received a device from any school last year, you are allowed to keep your device for this school year.
