CLASSROOM EFFECTIVENESS: The Superintendent shall not allow ineffective teaching, coaching, or instructional supports that do not directly contribute to improved classroom effectiveness and student outcomes. (Strategic Goal 1)
FINANCE: The Superintendent shall not manage district finances in a manner that is inconsistent with the law or compromises long-term fiscal health, transparency, or alignment with student-centered priorities. (Strategic Goal 5)
MAJOR DECISIONS: The Superintendent shall not make major decisions affecting district programming or restructuring without presenting a draft proposal to the Board prior to implementation.
POSITIVE SCHOOL CULTURE: The Superintendent shall not enforce or tolerate practices that undermine a positive school culture; ensuring all policies and actions promote inclusivity, respect, and a supportive environment for students and staff. (Strategic Goal 4)
TALENT ACQUISITION & RETENTION: The Superintendent shall not pursue talent strategies that fail to prioritize the recruitment, retention, and support of highly qualified and diverse educators. (Strategic Goal 2)

Teaching & Learning
(CONSTRAINT 1)
Fifth-grade students at Frank D. Moates went on a field trip to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, in partnership with the Texas Trust Credit Union Grant. Students were able to observe where billions of dollars are printed and learn about the history of US currency.
DeSoto ISD closed out the STAAR Interim and TELPAS testing window. Campus leaders and teachers can use the data to plan targeted instruction before the STAAR window in April.
Our Audio/Video CTE students met K104 radio personality Dee "Lil D" Porter and learned about the entertainment industry and how to persevere in the face of adversity and competition.
During Spring Break, four DHS seniors will travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Close Up Program, which fosters civic participation, deep knowledge of the inner workings of our democracy, and lifelong networks of opportunities for students. This is sponsored by the City of Glenn Heights.

This week, the Communications team has been actively engaged in a wide range of initiatives to support district priorities, enhance community engagement, and strengthen internal and external communication efforts:
Staff Wellness & Marketing: Continued efforts to strengthen awareness and engagement around the district’s staff wellness initiative, including targeted communications and strategic marketing.
Women's History Month: Highlighted and celebrated Women’s History Month through district channels to recognize contributions and achievements.
Hall of Honor Planning: Continued structuring this year’s Hall of Honor induction class in preparation for communications and outputs around this annual recognition.
Interim Superintendent Meet & Greet: Coordinated and prepared logistics, communications, and support for the upcoming event to introduce Dr. Brent S. Mitchell to the community.
Community Engagement: Attended the Mayor’s Monthly Stakeholder Breakfast to represent the district and support enrollment outreach efforts.
Enrollment Strategy: The Chief Communications Officer engaged a cross-functional committee of leaders to conduct a SWOT analysis of factors impacting district enrollment, assess realistic goals and targets, and identify strategies to maintain and grow enrollment.
Customer Service & Student Experience: Began early conversations with leaders to define expectations and systems for customer service and student experience to ensure consistency across all campuses.
PK Enrollment & Roundup Preparation: Began frontloading and preparing communications for PK enrollment and the upcoming PK Roundup event, alongside other ongoing projects.
Condolence Resolution: Developed a formal resolution honoring the passing of Superintendent Emeritus Dr. Usamah Rodgers’ father, ensuring the district appropriately expresses support and recognition.
Comprehensive Communications Toolkit: Created a communications toolkit in response to a media inquiry regarding the district’s financial position, providing leadership with coordinated messaging and resources to respond effectively.
These efforts reflect the department’s commitment to proactive planning, strategic communication, and supporting district goals through thoughtful engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and operational consistency.
