Tutorials take place twice-weekly in the AVID class, on Tuesdays and Fridays, for 9th and 10th grade students. Students in AVID 11 and AVID 12 only have tutorials once per week. Tutorials are a dedicated time for students to work on challenging material from their core classes like math, English, science, and history. Students complete the Tutorial Request Form (TRF) and bring it with them to class.
Tutorials benefit students academically and socially!
Students learn to collaborate effectively with peers, ask questions, and how to lead a discussion/academic conversation.
While in their Tutorial groups, students build relational capacity and become critical thinkers.

AVID's emphasis on Focused Notes equips learners with the tools necessary to take effective and meaningful notes that will contribute to your academic success.
As a student in the AVID elective, all AVID Scholars are expected to bring a 3-ring binder to school every day and take Focused Notes in their content classes. These will be graded weekly by your AVID Tutors.
