AVID 10 Curriculum
During the Spring semester, AVID Sophomores will take advantage of a unique opportunity. AVID Scholars will visit five college campuses across Southern California! Scholars typically CSU San Marcos, UC San Diego, and the UCSD Birch Aquarium on day one. After staying overnight at a hotel in San Diego, Scholars will visit the University of San Diego, San Diego State University, and UC Riverside on day two!
This two-day-one-night field trip to San Diego is exclusively offered to AVID Sophomores at LQHS! Some tour details are subject to change each year.

The culminating project for AVID 10 is a Career Research Fair. Much like in AVID 9, AVID Scholars will research a career field (and specific career) to develop a well-written, MLA-formatted, research paper and "Job Fair" style presentation.
This presentation takes place in the LQHS Media Center and showcases students' research, public speaking, and personal interests.
Beginning in 10th grade, LQHS AVID Scholars will be introduced to the IB course, Theory of Knowledge (TOK). This course engages students in rigorous academic discourse and critical thinking.
Above is a sample lesson that introduces students to TOK. In their 11th and 12th-grade years, students will be completing IB TOK along with their AVID and Dual Enrollment courses -- an opportunity that only a few AVID programs in the COUNTRY offer!
