ABOUT LUMINATE CAREERS

At Derby Moor Spencer Academy, careers education and guidance is delivered in partnership with Luminate Careers.

Our Careers Advisers - Marsha, Kat and Flavia - work closely with students, staff and parents/carers to support young people in exploring their future options and making informed decisions about their next steps.

Support is available through:

• 1:1 careers guidance appointments

• Small group sessions

• Drop-in conversations at break and lunchtime

Career guidance appointments provide students with the opportunity to discuss their interests, strengths, aspirations and future pathways in a supportive and impartial environment. Students do not need to know exactly what they want to do in the future — appointments are designed to help them explore all available options, including further education, apprenticeships, training and employment pathways.

The Careers Team are based in DE18 on the Dedication Floor and are usually in school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Students are welcome to drop in with quick questions at break or lunchtime, or they can request an appointment through their tutor or Mrs Parker in Student Services.

At Luminate Careers, we believe in supporting young people to improve their lives through learning and employment. Our aim is to help every young person recognise the opportunities available to them and achieve their potential, whatever their starting point.

Our vision is to ensure all young people have access to high-quality, independent and impartial careers advice and guidance to help them shape their future with confidence.
