“DEEPEST LONGING” DISPOSITION Fr. Victor Baltazar, SJ
Opening Song
“Encountering God is primarily a matter of the heart, though no doubt the intellect also plays a role. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mt 5, 8). Our deepest and most authentic desire is the point at which we are most united with God. It requires a great sincerity and inner freedom to identify that desire.”
Van Breemen, The God of Our Deepest Longings.
Prayer
God, You are the deepest ground of our being and you love us infinitely more than we love ourselves. Help us to open ourselves up to your life-giving and challenging presence in us. Enlighten the eyes of our heart to discern your most holy will, in which all that is good has its source and sustenance, today and every day, for ever and ever. AMEN.

Reflection Points:
Spend some time recalling the significant events you have given yourself to in this period of your life, then ask yourself: What do I consider is/are my deepest desire(s) at this point of my life? How does it feel giving of my life in this way for this purpose?
What do I seem avoid most or resist? Which do I most fear?
Is there anything that blocks my complete opening up of my heart to God’s desires? Notice and explore.
When did I experience the consolation of discovering and recognizing my deepest longings? What did I see?
