Our Mandate
The Department of Education was established through the Education Decree of 1863 as the Superior Commission of Primary Instruction under a Chairman. The Education agency underwent many reorganization efforts in the 20th century in order to better define its purpose vis a vis the changing administrations and charters. The present day Department of Education was eventually mandated through Republic Act 9155, otherwise known as the Governance of Basic Education act of 2001 which establishes the mandate of this agency.
The Department of Education (DepEd) formulates, implements, and coordinates policies, plans, programs and projects in the areas of formal and non-formal basic education. It supervises all elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative learning systems, both public and private; and provides for the establishment and maintenance of a complete, adequate, and integrated system of basic education relevant to the goals of national development.

As we face the threat of COVID-19 pandemic, the main obstacle to overcome is the need for social distancing where face to face interaction is impossible. However, we as educators see the need to get our learner's back on track to ensure that education continues. With this current situation, the continuity of learning should be moving towards keeping our learners safe by maintaining social distance. Thus, there is a need to innovate our methods and use current technologies available to us.
A wise African proverb tells us that "It takes a village to raise a child". It teaches us to reflect on the reality that the collaboration of an entire community of people is essential for children to grow in a safe and healthy environment.
Now more than ever, we are called to collaboration and cooperation as we face the challenges of the "New Normal". Today we literally extend the classroom outside the four walls of the school and into your homes. But even as we modify our learning delivery mode, we remain true to our mandate of providing quality access to basic education and ensuring that no child is left behind.
Be assured that our school is continuously working on crafting a relevant and more responsive programs and projects. Together, let us create a nurturing and safe learning experience through linking harmony and excellence towards success.
