The Homeroom Guidance Program (HGP) is a developmental and preventive initiative implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) to support the holistic development of learners. Institutionalized through DepEd Memorandum No. 72, s. 2021 and aligned with the K to 12 Basic Education Program, HGP addresses the academic, personal, social, and career development needs of students. Unlike traditional academic subjects, HGP is non-graded and instead focuses on building core life skills, values formation, and emotional intelligence—skills essential for learners to succeed in both school and life.
At AASMHS, the implementation of the HGP is carried out consistently across all grade levels through the active facilitation of class advisers. Lessons are delivered using structured modules and engaging activities that promote self-awareness, responsible decision-making, interpersonal relationships, and career exploration. In line with DepEd’s advocacy for learner-centered education and mental health awareness, the Homeroom Guidance Program plays a crucial role in shaping students into well-rounded, resilient, and socially responsible individuals.
