Handwashing with soap is one of the key elements of DepEd’s Comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in schools (WINS) Program as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 10, s. 2016. This advocates and raise the awareness of pupils on the significance of washing hands with soap. Our district dentist discussed the importance of handwashing with soap and demonstrated the proper handwashing to the school children.. She encouraged pupils to do proper hand washing as this is critical to food safety and illness prevention and should be done particularly after pupils use the restroom and before they eat.

Dental health care was demonstrated to the pupils. Our District dentist encouraged everyone to brush their teeth everyday and make it a habit to prevent tooth decay, pain and disease in the mouth. Toothbrushing paraphernalia were also distributed to pupils for their dental care routine.

In order to intensify health and nutrition among school children, Dugo Elementary School as per headed by the School Principal and Nutrition Coordinator supports the School Feeding Program of the department. This aims to reduce acute malnutrition among the identified wasted and severely wasted school children. During this pandemic, Enhanced Nutri-bun and Fresh Milk were distributed to the SBFP recipients as replacement to the usual hot meal served before the pandemic.
