History

Dalaya Elementary School was established in 1945. It started as a primary school with two teachers one teacher handling two classes. The first two multigrade teachers were Mrs. Otilia C. Bello C. Bello, grade I and II class adviser and Mr. Santos R. Pajarillo , grade III and IV class adviser and the Head Teacher of the school. Children from nearby barangays came to Dalaya Elementary School because no school was established then in their barangays. There was only one school building then.

In 1992, Dalaya Elementary School became an elementary school and in 1994, graduated its first batch. One teacher, Ms. Janerin Delacruz was added to the school that handled grade V and VI classes. DES was a combination school for almost ten years. Mrs. Otilia C. Bello was then promoted as the Head Teacher of the school due to the retirement of Mr. Santos Pajarillo. Mrs. Bello was promoted as a Principal and retired in 2007. Enrolment in these school years began to decrease due to the construction of schools to nearby schools that served as barangay feeders of the school.

In December, 2009, Miss Wilma C. Ponce came to school as new Principal. Two teacher I items were given to the school. The school then had four single classes and one combination classes. Academic performance of the school began to improve as revealed by the result of National Achievement Test and District Achievement Test. Miss Ponce was transferred to San Lorenzo in December 2014.

Another Principal, Miss Emma Ayon-ayon assumed her office in DES in December 2014 but was transferred to Maddalero Elementary School to fill the vacant position of Principal in July 2016. In 2015, another teacher 1 item was granted to DES. This made DES a totally single class elementary school. Changes on Physical aspect of the school began to grow during the short stay of Miss Ayon-ayon in the school.

Mrs. Geraldine G. Cristal came to the school as the new principal in July 15, 2016. Dalaya ES reached its peak on its physical and academic aspects. DES experienced to join Brigada Search. It was awarded as the best Brigada School Implementer Small category in the District Level and awarded 1^st runnrer up in the Congressional Level. DES has just undergone the most recent Virtual SBM Validation by the SDO Cagayan. Transformation is very evident during Mrs. Cristal Administration. Mrs. Cristal led the school for three years and three months that in October 2020, she was assigned at Buguey South Central as Principal II because the central school needs more her services. However DES remains to be cluster school.

At present, Dalaya Elementary is led by an OIC, a principal qualifier, Mrs. Remedios A. Agbisit with her five dedicated and committed teachers. The kindergarten teacher of the school is owned by Fula Elementary School.
