Find your role in the PTA! Being a part of their school journey makes a difference in the life of your Dennis Chavez Panther - Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. Involvement at the school also makes it easier to establish friendships with teachers and other parents. We promise that the time you give our group and the school will be worth your while—and fun!
*Remember all volunteers must have a Supervised or Unsupervised Background Clearance on file in the Front Office prior to volunteering with students. DCES approves volunteers on an individual basis.
Panther Patrol is a group of volunteers who spend a day, or half a day, helping keep our campus safe. Click the logo for more info!
As you can see, we are a small and busy group. This is where you can come in! We need your help, and so do your child(ren). A special thanks to all of our volunteers from last year for all their hard work and dedication. Here at Dennis Chavez Elementary, we strive for excellence and what better way than to become involved today. We are in need of growth and are seeking volunteers to continue re-establishing the organization.
We have planned some exciting events this year in hopes to get more parents involved in their children’s education. The PTA is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own. Please come and join us by becoming a member, signing up to volunteer, or attending a General Session PTA Meeting.
We don’t expect a huge time commitment from volunteers. An hour can be a big help to our group and the school, and we have positions and tasks to fit all schedules and interests. Just let us know whether a program, event, or activity interests you and when you might be free to help. (You don’t even have to come to the school or attend a meeting to be involved, although we’d really like to meet you personally!)
In general terms, volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services. Volunteering is generally intended to promote good or to improve quality of life. But people also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others, to make contacts for possible employment, to have fun, and a variety of other reasons.
There are many opportunities for volunteering at DCES. You can volunteer in the classroom, in the library, help in the lunchroom, do at-home projects, and help out with special events. To learn more, talk to your child’s teacher, an Executive Committee Member, or watch the newsletter and website for opportunities as they arise. “Do what you can…when you can!”
Feel free to email president@dennischavezpta.com if you have any questions. Together, we can make a difference at our school!
