DALTON CAMP AWARD
Value: $10,000
Application due: January 5, 2026
The Dalton Camp Award is a $10,000 prize for the best essay on the link between media and democracy, presented annually by Friends of Canadian Media. This award was launched in 2002 to honour the memory of Dalton Camp, a distinguished commentator on Canadian public affairs.
Eligible essays written in English up to 2,000 words in length are judged anonymously on both subject matter and strength of written expression.
Any Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, regardless of age, student or professional status may enter. Applications are encouraged and welcomed from across genders, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, religions, and beliefs. Please read the Rules and Regulations before you submit your essay. The REMAX Quest for Excellence scholarship program is a cash scholarship that recognizes students for their ongoing community contributions and pursuit of leadership. The 2026 Quest for Excellence program will invite eligible students to write and submit an essay based on one of three key themes: charitable community contribution; the vision for a brighter future; and ensuring Canadians have a safe, secure and affordable place to call “home.”
You will need to respond to one of the following questions:
What does a “bright future” look like for you?
How have you demonstrated leadership or charity within your community to make it a better place?

CMOLIK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP (Must be nominated by the school)
Value: Up to $45,000

This scholarship is for students who have faced adversity but have responded with positivity and tenacity, achieving academic and social goals. Applicants must have lived in Canada for at least seven years and have experienced adversity in their lives. They may not have top grades through high school but must be capable of succeeding at the post-secondary level. KIN CANADA BURSARIES
Value: $1,000 (97 bursaries awarded!)

TERRY FOX HUMANITARIAN AWARD
Value: $28,000

BEEDIE LUMINARIES SHINE SCHOLARSHIPS
Value: $11,000 per year while you study

This for Grade 12 students. Education can offer life-changing opportunities, but every year, too many bright, driven students from disadvantaged backgrounds make the decision not to pursue post-secondary education because they can't afford it or they have face personal adversity. SCHULICH LEADER SCHOLARSHIPS
(School nominated Scholarship – must be nominated by the school)
Value: $100,000 - $120,000
Nomination Application deadline: DECEMBER 18, 2025
Schulich Leader Scholarships are the largest and most prestigious undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) scholarships in Canada. Each year, 100 scholarships, valued at $100,000 - $120,000 per scholarship, are awarded. Every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student. Sands will nominate ONE student!
Eligibility
Must be graduating high school in 2025-26 academic school year and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program
Can demonstrate leadership, charisma, and creativity & be entrepreneurial-minded
Intend on pursuing a career in one or more of: Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Business enterprise, or applied scientific research.
*Strong consideration will be given to students with financial need
Schulich Foundation will not consider students who:
Focus on activism (environmental/political/societal), who intend on becoming a Dr., dentist, nurse, psychologist, pharmacist, optometrist) or who intend to become a professor and conduct theoretical research.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE NOMINATION If you would like to be considered for the Schulich nomination, please answer the following questions in paragraph form, addressed to the Sands Scholarship Committee:

ü What are your top 3 achievements – academic or other? 50 words maximum per achievement
ü What are you passionate about & what are your career aspirations? Maximum 100 words
ü How do you demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, including leadership, charisma and creativity? 100 words maximum

ü Optional statement explaining any extenuating circumstances (Personal or Financial) 100 word maximum

BC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP (Student must be nominated by the school)
Value: $5,000.00

The BC Excellence scholarship is for BC high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study. To be eligible for this award, students must:
have the following final marks.
Minimum “B” average in grades 11 and 12 courses required for graduation
Minimum "B" (73% or above) in Language Arts 12
Minimum “B” average, no more than one "C+" (67% or above), and no marks lower than “C+” in courses that fulfill graduation requirements for Science 11 or 12, Math 11, and Social Studies 11 or 12
be nominated by their secondary school to qualify for this scholarship and each school may nominate one student only
As noted above, each high school in BC can nominate one student for this scholarship. Being nominated does not mean that you have won the scholarship but does mean that you will move forward in the application process.
If you would like to be the Sands nominee for a BC Excellence Scholarship, please write a maximum 500-word statement, addressed to the Sands Scholarship Committee, BC Excellence Scholarship, responding to the following two questions:
Describe one experience that helped you decide on your intended career or area of post-secondary study, and,
What challenges did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
Please submit your response, along with a copy of your Chart of Activities & Accomplishments to Ms. Sansregret in-person or at: jsansregret@deltaschools.ca before December 18, 2025. The Sands Scholarship Committee will evaluate all responses and choose a nominee in early January 2026. The nominee will then be directed to complete the official application.
