Homemade Mashed Potatoes
1) Wash your hands, make sure your hair is pulled back.
2) Get out your equipment; potato peeler, cutting board, colander, sharp knife, large sized pot, large sized mixing bowl, electric mixer, liquid measuring cup.
3) Fill large pot half way full with water. Place pot on stove with cover on, heat on high. *remember, large pot=large burn!
4) Next get your first ingredient, the potatoes.
Basic recipe is 4 potatoes.
First peel the skin off the potato with the potato peeler, dig out any bruises or dark spots with the end of the potato peeler. Rinse off your potato with cold water. Dice the potato into cubes about an inch wide by a half of an inch thick. About the size of a starburst.
Peeling with potato peeler. Peeling with a knife.
5) CAREFULLY slide your cut up potatoes into the pot.
6) Boil for 8-10 minutes.
7) When potatoes are done, strain water out using the colander, and then dump into a mixing bowl.
