YouScience is an aptitude test that matches students up with careers after completing a series of brain games. Students take the YouScience inventory in 9th grade and can access their results up to 10 years after graduation. The results from this inventory can help students narrow down career choices, open their minds to careers they had never considered, or affirm career options based on scientific analysis of the way they think, problem-solve, and process information. Students can access their YouScience results through Infinite Campus by choosing the SLDS Portal link. Students should see their counselor with any questions about YouScience.
Apprenticeships in a skilled trade offer students a fast track to their career goals. Participants obtain paid, relevant workplace experience while acquiring the skills and national credentials they need for their selected trade. According to federal statistics, 90% of apprentices who complete an apprenticeship retain employment, with an average salary of $80,000. Opportunities are available for in-demand trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, construction, and more.
