Hi, my name is Lisa Myers. I’ve had the joy of teaching second grade at Legacy Point Elementary in Douglas County School District for the past 13 years. I truly believe second grade is a magical time—it's when students build the foundational skills that spark a lifelong love of learning and literacy. One of the things I love most about teaching is the constant opportunity to grow. I’m energized by learning new strategies and finding creative ways to make content meaningful for my students. I'm incredibly excited to take on a new role as an ELD specialist and to support our multilingual learners and school community in powerful and purposeful ways.
My educational journey began at Fort Lewis College, where I earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in math and science, along with my teaching license in 2002. More recently, I returned to school to pursue my master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) through Grand Canyon University, while also earning my CLD endorsement. I’m passionate about the rich diversity in our classrooms and truly believe it offers incredible opportunities to foster deeper connections, empathy, and a broader understanding of the world around us.
Outside of the classroom, I’m happiest when I’m outdoors. My husband and I love spending time in the mountains—whether it’s hiking, camping, fly fishing, or just enjoying a walk with our fluffy old Pomeranian, Teddybear. We’re now navigating life as newly empty-nesters! Our son is starting his sophomore year in college studying engineering next fall, and our daughter will be graduating from CSU next spring with a degree in Communication and Political Communication. Raising our family here in Parker has been such a gift—we truly love this beautiful community we call home.
