Heather Preonas

About Me

Hello! My name is Heather Preonas, and I am thrilled to be joining the Northeast Elementary team as its new school counselor.

Originally from Pennsylvania, I settled in Highlands Ranch fourteen years ago. Since then, I’ve been a proud DCSD parent, as well as a dedicated DCSD employee and volunteer since 2021. My professional background is in early childhood special education and elementary education, and, most recently, I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Adams State University. I bring with me over 25 years of experience working with children and families in home, school, and medical settings. 

Outside of work, I’m a foodie and enjoy cooking and baking with my family. I also like to read novels, walk and play with my dogs, listen to live music, and attend musical theater and movies with my children.

I am passionate about building meaningful relationships, fostering resilience, and helping students develop the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
