Digital Citizenship

La ciudadanía digital

ISTE Student Standard number two (2018), Digital Citizen, states the importance of developing today’s students into responsible digital citizens in the 21st-century (para. 3). Modern information technology grants our students the opportunity to take their learning beyond the walls of the classroom, and to engage in collegial and productive conversations about what they are learning, as well as solve problems in a collaborative setting. It is absolutely imperative that all students who choose to use information technology to enrich their learning experience do so in a way that is both safe and respectful to all members of their learning community. So what exactly is digital citizenship, also called netizenship? Below are two videos that explain digital citizenship in more detail. The first keeps it super simple for people of all ages, and the second one is a TEDx talk by Anne Collier, a journalist and youth advocate.
