Sept 26: It feels like there are so many people to thank as we've entered competition season and gear up to host our own competition next weekend! Thank you to David Myers for making more durable tent weights for the DCMI tents (and for our food tents at competitions). It'll be so nice not to have sand leak all over our vehicles. To Christie and Matt Gallen for helping repair all of the tents to make sure they are functional. To Kevin and Carrie Cox for securing discounted hotel rooms for our judges and securing high-speed wifi for the DCMI event. To Andi Walker for the endless edits to the volunteer and equipment lists. To Hali Shepard for putting together the delicate dance of student volunteer schedules. To Lynese Zukowski for guiding these final weeks of preparation to make sure everything is in order and for putting the call out for additional volunteers from CV. To Mike Zukowski for helping me create the large truck and equipment logistics map and knowing which schools we needed to alert to get there early with their semi trucks and trailers. To Christie Gallen and Nikki Barnett for helping secure all of the donated meals for our judges and students. To Krista Peterson for helping to put together the DCMI program. To Jarod Holdren for helping with the scoreboard slideshow. To Jessica Dickson, our assistant principal, for making sure all of the logistics at the school go smoothly- from emptying the dumpsters ahead of time to unlocking gates for light tower and porta-potty delivery. To Jackie Mielicki for her efforts to make sure we have plenty of food in the concessions. To Ben Brulje, our FBLA advisor, to working so hard on our t-shirts and hoodies for the event. To Jeremy Snook for making sure all of our ticket and merchandise prices are correct and that all of our equipment is working properly. To Thomas Kaduk, Christian Holland, and Weslee Hales for being willing to come back to your alma mater (even from states away) to work alongside us and make DCMI a success. To all of the parents who sought out business sponsors and ads, who are volunteering on the day of the event, allowing us to borrow your canopy tents and tables, and are making sure their kids are at the school at the crack of dawn...THANK YOU! And to Sal Hernandez, for answering my endless questions and helping me get in contact with the correct people at the school to pull this event off- I appreciate you more than you know! This event takes the whole village to pull off and our village is the very, very best! I love you all so much my heart could burst!

DC SHOWCASE

DC Showcase is always an exciting milestone because it marks the unofficial start of competition season!

Each year, marching bands from across Douglas County come together for their first competition-style performances of the season. While there are no scores or rankings, students get the chance to put their shows on the field in front of an audience and experience the energy of performing alongside other bands before the competitive season officially begins.

More importantly, DC Showcase is about community. It’s an opportunity for students to cheer one another on, see what their fellow musicians have been working on, and build camaraderie among the marching bands throughout our county.

It’s also the perfect chance to shake out those early-season jitters! With our first competition coming up on Saturday, DC Showcase gave our students an opportunity to perform, learn, build confidence, and get excited for everything ahead.

Competition season is officially here! We're so excited to see where the season takes us!

DCHS vs. DAKOTA RIDGE

The DCHS Marching Band hit the field for their first performance of the year at our first home football game vs Dakota Ridge! The kids had a blast, we learned a lot, and we got our first taste of what this season has in store.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how far this group goes! Go Huskies!

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

Our Back to School Bash was a great way to kick off the year! The marching band and color guard welcomed students and families with a high-energy performance that had parents and teachers commenting on how much fun they were having and what a great year it looks like we have ahead of us.

We also got to meet some future band and guard members at our booth, where elementary and middle school students tried their hand at spinning a guard flag and playing a snare drum. Best of all, several eighth graders stopped by and told us they’re interested in joining next year. We’d call that a pretty successful night!

DEBUT PERFORMANCE AT THE DC FAIR PARADE

The DCHS Huskie Pride Marching Band made their 2026 debut today at the Douglas County Fair Parade in downtown Castle Rock. You can tell they have been working hard all week at band camp! They looked and sounded so good! We're so excited for the season ahead!
