Aug 14: What would we do without Andi Walker? She just created the volunteer sign-ups for the entire season in one easy-to-view Sign-Up Genius! So grateful for her tech savviness that makes the season run so much more smoothly! Rockstar!!!

Aug 16: So grateful for Lucas Peterson and Band Booster Alumni, Kevin Fitzpatrick, for designing and building this year's show props! You guys did such a stellar job last year and we can't wait to see this year's design!

Aug 20: The Band's Booth at the Back to School Celebration was a wonderful success because of the efforts of these incredible parents: Nikki Barnett, Andi Walker, Sarah Cosier, Tom Barnes, Stephanie Holdren, and our incredible staff and students. We had so many excited Elementary and Middle School students and their parents stop by our booth, learn more about band, learn to use a guard flag and play a snare drum. We even had several 8th graders express interest in joining the band next year!

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

August 21, 2026

Our Back to School Bash was a great way to kick off the year! The marching band and color guard welcomed students and families with a high-energy performance that had parents and teachers commenting on how much fun they were having and what a great year it looks like we have ahead of us.

We also got to meet some future band and guard members at our booth, where elementary and middle school students tried their hand at spinning a guard flag and playing a snare drum. Best of all, several eighth graders stopped by and told us they’re interested in joining next year. We’d call that a pretty successful night!

THE FIRST NOTES OF AN INCREDIBLE SEASON

The first two weeks of band camp are officially in the books, and what an incredible start to the season it has been!

Our students have accomplished so much in just 13 days. During the first week, our newest members learned the fundamentals of marching while the entire band prepared three pep tunes for our annual appearance in the Douglas County Fair Parade. Learning to march and play at the same time is no small feat, and watching our new students grow in confidence each day has been exciting to see.

Week two built on that momentum. Students continued refining their marching technique while also memorizing the first two movements of our 2026 competitive show. The amount of focus, determination, and perseverance they've demonstrated has been nothing short of impressive. Every rehearsal has brought noticeable growth, and it's clear that this group is committed to becoming something special.

Of course, band camp isn't just about hard work. It's also about building friendships and creating memories. Between rehearsals, students enjoyed a movie night complete with pizza and popcorn, cooled off during a spirited water war (with plenty of popsicles to follow!), and spent lunch breaks laughing together over games and conversations. Those moments of fun are just as important as the rehearsals, helping create the trust and camaraderie that make a great band.

We couldn't be more proud of every student for the effort, resilience, and positive attitude they've brought to band camp. They have embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, supported one another, and laid an incredible foundation for the season ahead.

We're off to a strong start, and if these first two weeks are any indication, the future is incredibly bright. We can't wait to see what this talented group accomplishes together this season. Go Huskies!

DEBUT PERFORMANCE AT THE DC FAIR PARADE

The DCHS Huskie Pride Marching Band made their 2026 debut today at the Douglas County Fair Parade in downtown Castle Rock. You can tell they have been working hard all week at band camp! They looked and sounded so good! We're so excited for the season ahead!

BEGINNING THE SEASON WITH A SPLASH!

The DCHS Huskie Pride Marching Band began the season on the right note with our annual Car Wash fundraiser at the Chick-fil-A parking lot! Our drum major and a small group of students led the way with their enthusiasm, encouraging a steady stream of community members to get in line for the car wash. Remaining students and parents formed an assembly line to pre-wash, wash, rinse, and dry the cars until they were sparkling clean. 

The car wash efforts brought in $662 in new funds! 

That's a great start to an incredible season!
