Extra Curricular Ensembles are offered primarily outside of school hours.
Jazz Ensemble
This ensembles meets at the conclusion of the marching band season through our May concert. The Jazz Ensemble performs at concerts at the school and jazz clubs in the Denver Metro area. All players of any instrument are welcome to join. Only rhythm section students are required to audition (drums, piano, guitar, bass guitar, vibraphone).
Musical Pit Orchestra
Pit Orchestra (open to band instruments too!) plays live for the theater musical in February/March. We rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3-5 starting in January with auditions in November.
Pep Band
Do you like music? Do you like sports? Do you not like sports, but enjoy playing music? Do you like having fun? Come and be a part of Douglas County High School’s Pep Band! We perform music by Journey, Bruno Mars, The Ides of March, Paul Simon, Jackson 5, The Blues Brothers, and more! We play at the boys and girls basketball games. The cost is free! There will only be two mandatory rehearsals, then playing between 5 to 8 basketball games and wrestling matches per season.
Winter Color Guard:
DCHS Winter Guard is an indoor color guard activity that goes from late November/early December through April with competitions/performances. The winter guard competes through the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association. Winter Guard is an extra curricular ensemble that is offered primarily outside of school hours.
Winter Percussion
Winter Percussion is part of the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association and indoor competitions. Our Winter Percussion ensemble has made it to the State Finals many times in the last few years! Winter Percussion usually starts in November and concludes in mid-April. Winter Percussion is an extra curricular ensemble that is offered primarily outside of school hours.
